| NW success at CSSC National Golf Handicap Finals. | |
|
|
| This years CSSC National Golf Handicap Finals was held at the Marriot Hollins Hall on Tuesday 7th August. The NW had 3 representatives taking part, including Barry Knapton and Ian Chappell from the North Fylde Area who had won through from a tough qualifying competition at Bromborough GC in June. The conditions where difficult with a strong westerly breeze blowing throughout the day on the exposed hillside course in Yorkshire. The greens were lightening fast and very undulating adding to the difficulty of the course from the competition white tees. | |

| I am delighted to report that this year’s winner and 2007 CSSC National Champion is Barry Knapton with scores of:- | |
|
|
| AM 81 -7 = 74 PM 79 -7 = 72 Total 160 -14 = 146 Nett |
|
|
|
| In second place was Northwest’s Brian Ollerton with a total nett score of 148. The Team prize is awarded to the region whose first two players have the lowest combined score. With Northwest coming first and second in the individual event, this wrapped up the team prize for the region without too much time being spent adding up the scores. | |
|
|
| Not wanting to be left out of all this success Ian Chappell managed a hole-in-one at the 180 yard 13th hole, his first. This, and Northwest overall results were celebrated with quite a few drinks at the evenings presentation. | |
|
|
| The North Fylde golfers would like to thank the National CSSC Events team and CSSC Golf Society for organising an excellent Championship. The facilities, staff and course at their chosen venue was first class. We would also like to thank North Fylde CSSC for their continued support for the regions golfers and Mike Lee who works his socks off to organise the NW qualifying event which was the springboard to the Region’s success. | |
